Luxury Glamping Done Right: Family Getaway at ReTreet Resort! (Full Review)
ReTreet Resort is a beautiful, family-friendly, nature resort nestled within 40 acres near Lake Guntersville. This review will dive into everything that you can expect when you book a luxury glamping tent at ReTreet Resort including the accommodations and unique amenities. As always, all opinions are my own.
My family and I had the pleasure of being hosted by the lovely ReTreet Resort to kick off our Thanksgiving Break and I have to say, this family getaway completely exceeded all of our expectations! From the breathtaking views to the luxe, yet cozy tent we got to stay in, ReTreet Resort had everything we needed to feel right at home – because they quite literally thought of EVERYTHING!
I know how tough it can be planning vacations for a large family, especially something as unique as glamping, so today I’ll be sharing everything about our stay at ReTreet Resort, and why it is the perfect family-friendly destination for your next family getaway!
THE LOCATION
ReTreet Resort is located in Northern Alabama, right off of HWY 79, specifically in Scottsboro, AL. Depending on which major nearby city you are coming from (such as Atlanta, GA or Nashville, TN) ReTreet Resort is no more than a 2.5-hour drive. For my fellow Alabamians, the drive times for the two closest cities are:
- Birmingham, AL – 1.5 hours (45 miles)
- Huntsville, AL – 1 hour (145 miles)
CHECK-IN PROCESS
The check-in process at ReTreet Resort was seamless! Before we arrived, we received a very detailed email letting us know exactly what to expect when we arrived. Check-in is at 4:00 pm but we got there a little bit later in the evening. Once we arrived, we parked our car in the parking area and located our assigned golf cart (more on those later!).
We loaded up our golf cart and headed to our tent. There was a map of the property conveniently attached to the windshield of the golf cart so we knew exactly where our tent was located. We followed a private road up to our tent and used our special code to unlock our unit.
That said, checking in at the office is totally optional but, if you arrive before 5:00 pm, I highly recommend stopping by the office to hear all about the resort and amenities, ask any questions, and check out all of the adorable ReTreet swag that they have!
LUXURY GLAMPING TENTS
ReTreet has many different types of accomodations such as tiny cottages, treehouses, cabins, and luxury glamping tents! Although I can’t wait to go back to stay in one of their other accommodations, during our stay we were in one of their luxury glamping tents and we were completely blown away!
I’m personally not.at.all actually about the real deal camping life so these glamping tents were right up my alley!
There are a total of six luxury glamping tents and we stayed in the ‘Game Room’. I will admit up front that I’m almost positive that we got the BEST tent on the property, however, I’m definitely eying the ‘Love Shack’ tent for a future, kid-free visit.
That said, no matter which tent you choose, each of the glamping tents come with all of the same amazing amenities!
TENT AMENITIES
Each glamping tent has a fully equipped kitchenette that includes a mini fridge, sink, toaster oven, microwave, dinnerware/glassware, and a Keurig coffee maker! Having all of these essentials inside of our tent was super helpful for our family of 5!
Each glamping tent is also climate-controlled so although it was pretty chilly during our stay, inside of our tent was nice and warm. Each tent also has a private, fully equipped bathroom with a toilet, step-in shower, and sink. It also came fully stocked with towels, soap, shampoo, lotion, and toilet paper!
Inside of the room was a comfy king-sized bed and there was also a nice-sized pull-out couch that provided an additional sleeping area complete with everything we needed to make the pull out bed.
One of our favorite amenities in the glamping tent was the private hot tub on the covered patio! There was also plenty of seating on the patio and even a two-top burner that could be used outside. It made it so easy to unwind while also enjoying the beautiful scenery and nature around us.
PROPERTY AMENITIES
While the glamping tent had many luxurious amenities, the entire property was full of amazing amenities that we could enjoy during our stay!
Remember those golf carts I mentioned earlier? Every reservation includes a two-seater golf cart at no additional charge! You’ll find them at the very front of the resort and your assigned golf cart will be labeled with your name. They come with a handy map of the resort inside as well as a few must-know rules to operate the golf carts safely. If you need more space, you can upgrade to a four-seater cart for $65 for the duration of your stay.
Right up the private road from our tent was an area called Pine Point. It featured a massive fire pit, charcoal grills, and a woodshed full of complementary wood for the fire pit. Right above this area was a very nice outdoor bathroom, plenty of outdoor seating, but the star of the show was the Nordic Cycle Station.
The Nordic Cycle Station is a type of contrast therapy and includes sauna sessions, cold plunges, and a cedar soaking tub to really help you unwind and recharge.
Another fun amenity and the kids’ favorite area was Kidtopia! Kidtopia was a full playground just for the littles! It was right next to Tree Bark Park (Dog Park) and more outdoor seating with a couple of fun, life-sized games like Connect 4 and Jenga.
At the front of the resort there were a ton of outdoor amenities such as cornhole, a few more fire pits, a charcoal grill, and a beautiful pond/waterfall.
The Tree Store and Star Dome Event Center are also at the very front of the resort.
The Tree Store is firstly, absolutely adorable, built into a tree with the cutest chandelier out front. It is open 24/7 and is a one stop shop for travel essentials and unique local goodies and snacks!
The Star Dome Event Center is absolutely breath taking and was beautifully decorated for the holiday season.
Other amenities that were available to enjoy were the Disk Golf Course, Horseshoe Pit, and the Putting Green.
THE ATMOSPHERE
The atmosphere at the ReTreet Resort was amazing. My family and I felt very comfortable and enjoyed all of those classic camping vibes but with a luxury touch! The hospitality that we experienced from the staff made us feel right at home and someone even returned my son’s stuffy to the front office after it fell off of our golf cart! Everyone we encountered, staff and other guests, were so kind, and the kids had a great time playing with other kids at Pine Point!
Beyond hospitality, the scenery and the resort itself were so peaceful and breathtaking. The view off of our balcony was lovely. We also hiked up towards Sunrise Ridge and the views were definitely worth it!
OVERALL RATING
Overall, I would highly, highly recommend ReTreet Resort! The glamping tents are absolutely perfect and the amenities definitely exceeded our expectations! ReTreet Resort also offers Treehouses, Tiny Cottages, and Two Bedroom Cabins. I can confidently say that I fully plan to come and enjoy each of their accommodations (with and without the kids). However, if you’re looking to plan a family trip, it’s important to note that children under 5 years are not permitted to stay in the Tiny Cottages for safety reasons!
Just minutes from Lake Guntersville, ReTreet Resort is one of those gems that I recommend everyone visit at least once! As many of their Google Reviews state, they have literally thought of every.single.thing and I highly recommend you add ReTreet to your upcoming travel plans.
