Easy Blender Salsa

*I received San Marzano and other promotional San Marzano items as a part of a campaign to spread awareness about DOP San Marzano Tomatoes*

Salsa is one of the quickest, easiest snacks to enjoy and this blender salsa is hands down the best salsa homemade salsa to enjoy at home. While there are many different ways to make salsa, as a busy mom, the blender has become my best friend, and after a little bit of trial and error, this blender salsa recipe has the perfect amount of sweetness and spice!

If I had to guess, the secret ingredient in this recipe is the San Marzano tomatoes! Trust me when I say, not all tomatoes are created equal and if you want the freshest tasting homemade blender salsa, then do yourself a favor and grab a can of these! Aside from the tomatoes…

Here is what you need to make this easy blender salsa:

  • San Marzano Tomatoes
  • Jalapeno
  • Red Onion
  • Garlic
  • Cilantro
  • Lime Juice (fresh is best)
  • Cumin
  • Chili Powder
  • Salt

While this was almost one of my 5 ingredients or less recipes, you can definitely add or substitute some of the ingredients to make it your own!

Before you get started, be sure to prep all of your ingredients such as slicing the jalapeno and removing the seeds, dicing the red onion, and peeling the garlic. For my blender salsa, I use the canned DOP San Marzano whole peeled Italian Tomatoes. Remember when I mentioned earlier that all tomatoes aren’t equal?

San Marzano Tomatoes

Many canned tomato brands claim to be ‘Italian’ and may even claim to be San Marzano tomatoes. Unfortunately, most times, this is nothing more than a marketing ploy. So what is special about San Marzano Tomatoes? True San Marzano DOP tomatoes are grown in the Agro Sarnese-Nocerino are which extends into the provinces of Naples, Salerno, and Avellino in South Italy.

To know if you are getting an authentic can of San Marzano tomatoes, you want to look for the DOP quality label. This label means that the San Marzano Tomatoes have been recognized with the European PDO quality label as Pomodoro San Marzano dell’Agro Sarnese-Nocerino DOP.

San Marzano tomatoes are also full of amazing health properties like vitamin C, Lycopene (a powerful antioxidant), beta carotene, and so much more!

Once you have your tomatoes and your prepped ingredients, pour the can of peeled tomatoes into your blender with the juices (drain half the juices for a chunkier consistency), add in the jalapenos, red onions, cilantro, garlic, and squeeze the juice of a lime into your blender.

Blend until you reach your desired consistency! You can also pour your Salsa into a glass container and save to enjoy later. This blender salsa is good for up to 5-7 days in the fridge.

There you have it!
