August is National Catfish Month and although I grew up eating catfish pretty regularly, I had no idea that it had its own month until recently! So in honor of National Catfish Month, I’m sharing the recipe for these yummy air fryer pecan crusted U.S. Farm-Raised Catfish Filets. This is the second recipe in my partnership with The Catfish Institute (if you haven’t checked out my Fried U.S. Farm-Raised Catfish Tacos you totally should) and it does not disappoint!

If you’ve never tried catfish before, you can expect a consistently mild, slightly sweet flavor with a light, flaky texture that pairs perfectly with the pecan topping.

So without further ado, here is what you need to make these delicious Air Fryer Pecan Crusted Fried U.S. Farm-Raised Catfish Filets

To make sure our pecan crust adheres to the U.S. Farm-Raised Catfish, we will first create a honey mustard base. In a small bowl, combine honey, dijon mustard, and melted butter and mix well. Set the mixture aside and get ready to prepare the pecan crust.

For the pecan crust, combine shredded parmesan cheese, chopped pecans, garlic, and parsley in a bowl and gently mix until well combined. If you can’t find chopped pecans near you, pecan halves will also do the trick and can easily be chopped by hand or in a food processor.

Now, to bring it all together!

Take your fresh, U.S. Farm-Raised Catfish, and using a paper towel, dry the top completely to remove any excess moisture. By making sure our catfish is completely dry, we can be sure that our pecan mixture sticks to the top perfectly.

Once you’ve dried the top of your catfish, season with salt and pepper to your liking, and then brush on the honey mustard mixture.

Now that your honey mustard mixture is applied, using your hands, grab a generous amount of your pecan mixture and press it onto the top of the catfish. Gently press on top to ensure that the mixture stays in place.

Next, prepare your air fryer basket by spraying a layer of non-stick spray to keep the catfish from sticking to the bottom. Using a spatula, gently lift and place your catfish into the air fryer basket.

Air fry at 375 degrees for 9-12 minutes and allow to cool for at least 5-10 minutes before serving.

Once cooled, serve with your favorite side and add a few fresh lemon slices to squeeze over the finished dish. I absolutely love this recipe because not only is it delicious, but while the catfish is cooking I am able to tidy up the kitchen and make sure my sides are ready to go once the catfish by the time the catfish is done cooking.
