Prince Resort at The Cherry Grove Pier – Full Hotel Review

The Prince Resort at Cherry Grove is a cozy, family-friendly, oceanfront resort in North Myrtle Beach with a rich history. This hotel review will dive into everything that you can expect when you book at the Prince Resort including the resort’s accommodations and unique amenities. As always, all opinions are my own.

My family and I recently had the pleasure of being hosted by the Prince Resort at The Cherry Grove Pier over Spring Break and I have to say, our time spent at the Prince Resort has been one of our best vacations yet! From the hospitality to the large cozy rooms and the breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean, the Prince Resort had everything we needed to feel right at home! That said, I know how tough it can be planning vacations for a large family so today I’ll be sharing everything about our stay at the Prince Resort, and why it’s the perfect family-friendly destination for your next vacation!

The Location

The Prince Resort is located in North Myrtle Beach right off of the Cherry Grove Pier. North Myrtle Beach is about a 35-40 minute drive from the city of Myrtle Beach. For us, this location worked perfectly because it felt great to go and enjoy the many attractions that Myrtle Beach had to offer and then come back to enjoy peaceful, quality time with our families. The location was also very quiet and you could hear the soothing sounds of the beach at night versus loud crowds, music, etc.

Needless to say, if you happen to be flying into Myrtle Beach, I highly recommend having a car so that you can easily get around. However, there were many nice restaurants along Ocean Blvd, as well as grocery stores nearby.

Check-In Process

The check-in process was seamless! The Prince Resort has two towers and the main lobby is located in Tower 1. At the very bottom of Tower 1, we were able to park our car and go up to the lobby where we were greeted and our reservation was handled. Since we arrived a bit early, our room wasn’t quite ready yet, however, the front desk was kind enough to provide us with our parking passes, pool wristbands, wifi information, and a small packet full of information about all of the amenities that the Prince Resort had to offer, restaurants nearby, and popular attractions.

We provided them with our phone number and they sent a text with our room number once the room was ready. We were then able to unload our luggage onto the luggage cart and take it to our room. There is also the option for a contactless check-in that guests may use to check in via a mobile app on their phones.

Since the hotel parking deck is located in Tower 2, once we got all of our luggage inside, we took the luggage cart back down, parked in the parking deck (making sure to hang our parking pass in the window), and walked across the street back to Tower 1.

While the towers are literally right across the street from each other, we made sure to use extra caution when crossing the street with our kids.

The Rooms

The Prince Resort offers 1, 2, and 3-bedroom condominium’s that are either oceanfront, ocean view, boulevard, or inlet views. We had a 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom oceanfront condominium that was complete with 2 king beds and 2 double beds. Within each accommodation option(1, 2, or 3 bedrooms), there are a variety of layouts. For example, there is a 2 bedroom oceanfront with two double beds in each room. There are even deluxe accommodation options, like the 3-bedroom oceanview with 2 king beds and 2 bunk beds.

Having so many options makes it easy to ensure that you have enough space and the perfect number of beds for your family.

In-Room Amenities

Each room has a full kitchen complete with everything you need to cook and store food during your stay. The kitchen had a full-sized refrigerator, microwave, stove/oven, and dishwasher. There were also smaller appliances like a coffee pot and blender, as well as pots, pans, cups, plates, and silverware.

The kitchen also had a nice-sized pantry which was perfect for extra snacks and foods that didn’t need to be refrigerated. As a family of five, while we did go out and enjoy delicious foods and many of the restaurants Myrtle Beach had to offer, it’s simply not realistic to eat out for every meal. So it was super convenient to be able to quickly whip something up for the kids for breakfast and lunch before we headed out to enjoy the resort.

There is also a washer and dryer inside each unit which was super convenient for us! Each bedroom has a television with cable and internet access making it easy to stream from your favorite streaming services.

The floor-to-ceiling windows and oversized balcony were the cherry on top of an already beautiful, spacious room. We really felt right at home!

We had more than enough towels in the bathrooms and bathtime became one of the kid’s favorite parts of the day thanks to the large garden tub! I loved that our bedroom also had access to the balcony so that we could enjoy sitting out there later in the evening when the kids went to bed

Water Amenities

Of the many hotels and resorts that we have had the pleasure of staying at, the Prince Resort definitely wins in the water amenities area! In Tower 1, there is a swimming pool, two hot tubs, and a mushroom waterfall in the kiddie pool. Not to mention, both pools are heated which was perfect for the kids (and my hubby and I!).

Tower 2 also boasts two hot tubs, a rooftop swimming pool, and a lazy river complete with floats,

Additionally, enjoying the beach is a no-brainer since it is only steps from the resort and Cherry Grove Pier.

Fitness Amenities

Just because you’re on vacation, doesn’t mean that you have to skip your workout! The Prince Resort has a dedicated fitness center that has two rooms: one for cardio and one for strength training! The cardio room was complete with treadmills, elliptical machines, and stationary bikes. In the room dedicated to strength training, there are free weights in various sizes and a nautilus machine making it easy to train different muscle groups!

I noticed that both rooms also had a barre installed which is great for my girls who enjoy barre training! Each room also provides a gorgeous view of the Cherry Grove Marsh and is located on the same floor as the water amenities in Tower 2.

The Restaurants

The Prince Resort has two restaurants on the property: 3500 Ocean Grill Restaurant and Driftwood Restaurant on the Pier. We had the pleasure of enjoying breakfast at 3500 Ocean Grill Restaurant and it was absolutely delicious! Not to mention, the views of the beach were breathtaking! Food arrived quickly and our server was very polite and helpful.

Unfortunately, we were not able to visit Driftwood Restaurant due to the current renovations being done at the Cherry Grove Pier after it was damaged this fall by Hurricane Ian. Both the Driftwood Restaurant and Pier Tackle Shop are set to open this Spring and we can’t wait to go back to visit once they reopen!

The Atmosphere

The atmosphere at the Prince Resort was very welcoming. My family and I felt very comfortable and welcomed by not only the staff but also by other guests at the resort! The hospitality that we experienced made us feel right at home!

Overall Rating

Overall, I would highly recommend the Prince Resort at the Cherry Grove Pier to any large family looking to take a relaxing vacation! You will have more than enough space in your room and with all of the amenities on the resort and in the North Myrtle Beach and Myrtle Beach Areas, your family is sure to have a blast!

Since returning home, our kids have been asking when we’ll be visiting again and honestly, we’re already planning to visit again later this year! So the next time your family is planning a vacation or looking to visit the Myrtle Beach area be sure to check out the Prince Resort at the Cherry Grove Pier!
