Make the most of a weekend in Dallas, Texas, and find out where to eat, where to stay, and things to do in Dallas.
As a busy family of five, my husband and I try our best to prioritize our time together with date nights, and when we’re lucky, we get to take a quick trip! That said, I know how tough it can be to plan a meaningful trip when you only have a weekend, or 48 hours to enjoy it! So today I’ll be sharing everything about our stay In Dallas, Texas, and why it’s the perfect destination for your next getaway (even if you have to bring a kiddo along)!
Where to Stay In Dallas, Texas
Dallas has many beautiful hotels to stay at depending on your needs and location desires. We knew we wanted to stay in the heart of downtown Dallas but we were so torn on which hotel to go with. Some of our top choices for hotels were:
Crowne Plaza Dallas-Market Center
DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Dallas – Campbell Centre
However, since we were traveling with our 1-year-old daughter, we decided to go with a place that had a bit more privacy and a kitchenette that we could utilize. So we ultimately ended up going with a Sonder property which was right in the heart of downtown Dallas. It offered complementary valet and contactless check-in.
The location we selected, featured a loft style, 1 bedroom complete with a kitchen and a washer and dryer. This was perfect for us since we knew we’d need to store things in the fridge and the in-unit washer and dryer made it easy to wash our clothes before we packed up and headed home. We also loved the views of downtown Dallas and the library. It was lovely at night, however, we did notice there were a number of homeless persons sleeping at the library.

Since we were in the heart of downtown, on our first day, we decided to make the most of our time and get out to explore all downtown Dallas had to offer. The skyscrapers were gorgeous and each corner had a unique shop or restaurant nestled inside of it!
In addition to the many restaurants and small shops, there were also a number of fun attractions tucked away in downtown Dallas, Texas. The AT&T Discovery District was one of the first unique areas that we stumbled upon while walking downtown.
According to the discovery district website, it’s a dedicated area downtown where tech, culture, and entertainment combine. There are delicious restaurants in the area and they host fun events such as movies and music on the lawn. There are also a number of educational events as well. Definitely, a must-see place to visit during your time in Dallas. A few other awesome places to visit in Dallas, Tx are:

As soon as we landed we were on a hunt for something good to eat and our first stop was Twisted Trompo. I had the street tacos, with queso and chips, and one of their specialty drinks! Everything was absolutely delicious and it was the perfect way to kick off our time in Dallas.
A few other places that we tried during our trip were Pluckers Wing Bar which besides being delicious, was such a fun experience on its own, The Biscuit Bar, which was a fun way to start the next day, and Ellen’s Restaurant, which was PACKED, but definitely worth the wait!
