A few weeks ago my hubby surprised me with a much-needed, romantic getaway to one of the most unique hidden gems in Atlanta – and now I’m finally spilling all the deets while sharing three benefits of prioritizing quality time with your spouse.

Anyone who knows my hubby and I know that we both work A LOT (yes, TMSAHM is my full-time gig – thank the Lord), and with the recent events that have transpired this year, he has been working even more than usual. Annnnd with two demanding toddlers, it’s pretty rare that we get any quality time so whenever we can, we make sure to make the most of it.
Needless to say, we were past due for a little getaway. Thankfully, my hubby is the thoughtful man that he is (again, thanking the Lord), so he decided to surprise me with a quick getaway for the weekend so that we could enjoy some much-needed- child-free, quality time!
So we packed our bags and headed to Atlanta for our weekend stay at Archimedes’ Nest at the Emu Ranch (keep reading to find out how you can get $20 off of your first Airbnb stay!).
It was such an amazing experience – we didn’t even feel like we were in Atlanta! It’s tucked away on the most beautiful grounds and was complete with some pretty fun feathered friends to keep us company.
Our little getaway left us feeling refreshed and had me thinking about just how important it is to carve out time to spend with your spouse – no matter how busy you both may be. So I want to share three benefits of prioritizing quality time with your spouse!
Uninterrupted Time To Catch Up
Every married couple knows that once you have children, things…change. This isn’t necessarily a negative thing, but with children comes a change in priorities. So it’s likely that while you and your spouse talk to each other every day, you may not get a chance to really ‘talk’ and catch up until you get an uninterrupted moment.
Long, meaningful conversations were and still are the foundation of my hubby and I’s relationship. So to be able to have the opportunity to just talk and catch up and enjoy each other’s company without being interrupted every few moments was priceless. Just remember to put your phones away – at least as much as possible bc you know, the kids may call.
Strengthen Your Bond
Quality time with your spouse is a great opportunity to strengthen your bond. I’ve noticed that recently many relationship gurus recommend setting aside time every week to have ‘date night’ and bond with your spouse. While I’d love to be able to make this happen, that just isn’t possible for us in the current season that we’re in right now.
That said, any alone time that we do get with each other we make sure that we take that time to bond. For us, that may look like taking time to catch up, enjoying a movie, enjoying a meal, or simply enjoying time doing nothing (our favorite since it’s usually followed by a much-needed nap).
While these things may seem simple, it’s so important to enjoy time together doing the things you used to enjoy before you were married. Those things are ultimately what helped strengthen your bond when you were dating and are crucial to maintaining that connection with your spouse.
Time To Set New Goals
My hubby and I LOVE dreaming together. One of our favorite things to do together is to set new goals and dream new dreams for our family. I don’t know about you but there isn’t anything more inspiring than being able to share your ambitions with your spouse and make a plan to execute them together.
The fruit that comes from time spent building and planning together is the sweetest! We get some of our best ideas and plans when we prioritize spending quality time together, and it’s such a blessing to be able to look back and remember where we were when we set those goals.
That said, we’ve set some pretty audacious goals during our weekend stay at Archimedes’ Nest at the Emu Ranch (get $20 off your stay below!) and I’m pretty sure we’ll go back soon!
Speaking of our weekend getaway, if you and your spouse are looking for a quiet, beautiful place to spend some quality time together, I highly, highly recommend Archimedes’ Nest at the Emu Ranch.
