All this extra time at home has definitely resulted in my family and I getting a lot more creative in the kitchen.

I’ve personally always been a sucker for anything with marshmallows and adding in chocolate is basically a match made in heaven.

With summer only a few days away it was only right that I introduced my boys to the deliciousness that is s’ mores. After having them the traditional way a few times, I decided to try something a little different and add in some extra flavor in the process.

Since we don’t have a fire pit or an official way of toasting the marshmallows, I had been simply broiling them in the oven for a few seconds before sandwiching them in between graham crackers and chocolate. This time though I decided to try my hand at making skillet s’ mores dip with a delicious butterscotch topping!

Needless to say, and obviously since I’m sharing the recipe with you guys…it was a hit!

I wasn’t sure the butterscotch flavor would blend well with the s’mores but I’m so glad I just went with it because you guys, it was amazing!

Here’s what you need to make this delicious butterscotch skillet s’mores dip:

Hershey’s Milk Chocolate Bar

Marshmallows

Butterscotch Chips

Butterscotch Topping

Fudge Topping

You guys know I love recipes with 5 or fewer ingredients! While you can always make the s’mores dip without the butterscotch, I highly recommend that you try these OR you always can get creative and add in whatever you like using this recipe (minus the butterscotch) as a base.

Don’t worry, for once, this won’t be one of those long, drawn-out recipe posts BUT I do want to share a few tips that I learned through trial and error when creating this recipe:

+ Once your oven has preheated add your cast iron skillet and let it heat up BEFORE adding your chocolate.

+ Be sure to break up the Hershey’s Milk Chocolate Bars into the 12 individual small pieces before adding them into the skillet.

+ Heat the butterscotch in the microwave BEFORE drizzling it on top of the s’mores.

+ Keep an eye on the s’mores while they are cooking to keep the marshmallows from burning on top. I personally like burnt marshmallows, haha but I know most people prefer a lighter brown on top.

  • 1/4 cup Butterscotch Chips
  • 1 pkg of Marshmallows
  • 3 tbsps Butterscotch Topping
  • 3 tbsps of fudge topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 450° F
  2. While the oven is preheating, break up each of your Hershey's Milk Chocolate Bars into 12 smaller pieces and measure out 1/4 cup of the butterscotch chips.
  3. Once the oven is preheated, place your skillet in the oven to heat up for a few minutes (3-5 mins).
  4. Remove your cast iron from the oven and add your Hershey's Milk Chocolate Bar pieces to the bottom of the pan in a circular pattern.
  5. Next, pour the butterscotch chips over the chocolate bar pieces.
  6. Then place the marshmallows on the top in a circular pattern.
  7. Place the Cast Iron skillet in the oven for 4-6 minutes until golden brown (or longer if you're like me and enjoy a burnt marshmallow.)
  8. While the s'mores dip is in the oven, add 2 tbsps of fudge topping and 2 tbsps of butterscotch topping in the microwave for about 15-20 seconds each.
  9. Carefully remove the cast iron skillet from the oven and drizzle the butterscotch and the fudge topping on top.
  10. Serve warm with graham crackers.
