These easy homemade croutons are one of those recipes that, once you make it, you’ll never go back to store-bought! I recently made home made croutons for the first time, and I was blown away by how flavorful, fresh, and delicious they were!

I’m a sucker for homemade recipes that don’t take a ton of time and steps to make, and this one is as simple as dumping the ingredients into a bowl, baking, and boom, fresh, perfectly crunchy croutons!

Here’s what you need to make these easy homemade croutons

  • Loaf of French Bread (cubed)
  • Olive Oil
  • Parmesean (grated)
  • Garlic Powder
  • Salt
  • Paprika
  • Fresh Rosemary (chopped)

Preparing the Croutons

Preheat the oven to 375° Fahrenheit and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. To prepare the croutons, take the loaf of French bread and cut it into cubes of your desired size. I’ve found that the bigger the cubes are, the better!

Next, add the cubed bread to a bowl, pour in the seasonings, freshly chopped rosemary, and olive oil.

Mix everything together until the cubed pieces are well coated, and lay them out evenly on the lined baking sheet!

Pop them in the oven for 15-20 minutes or until they’re golden brown and perfectly crispy.

Once done, enjoy your croutons immediately with salad, soup, or, honestly, just enjoy a handful (you deserve it!).

PRO-TIP

Be sure not to overcrowd your pan when baking the croutons. Space them out evenly to make sure that each one gets crispy!

Any sturdy bread works great for homemade croutons! French bread, sourdough, Italian bread, and even leftover sandwich bread will crisp up beautifully. Day-old bread is perfect because it dries out faster and gives you that golden, crunch texture that everyone loves.

Once the croutons have cooled completely, store them in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week! Avoid storing them in the fridge since the moisture will cause them to soften.

Yes! Simply freeze the cooled croutons in a resealable freezer bag for up to 2 months. Once you’re ready to use them, pop them back in the oven at 350 for 5-8 minutes to revive the crunch.

Chimichurri will stay fresh in the fridge for about 5-7 days when stored in n airtight container. The flavors actually deepen as it sits, so it tastes even better after a day or two!
